Homework: 

Keep working on math packets, reading / writing red words, and reading books! 

Chicks: 

We will start this process the week after spring break. The process takes 21 days and then we like to keep the babies in our room for a few weeks! If you are interested in chickens please let me know!!! We are looking for families to take them once we are done with them! We can not guarantee how many we will have but please let me know if you are interested or know of anyone interested!! We currently have 2 spoken for!

Grandparents Day

Is now set for May 3 in the morning, time TBD 

Memory Verse: We are working on memorizing Psalm 23 with the class! Feel free to work on this at home as well! 

For YOU From Mrs. Kristyn Brown: You are each invited to come and go as you’re able to the IF: 2024 Gathering at Pillar CRC this weekend. Friday from 7:00-11:00 and Saturday 10:00-5:00. She’ll be excited to greet you there and even offer a few treats! It’s a beautiful time of connection, worship and loving JESUS together! Consider yourself invited or join in the livestream here! 

March Dates: 

Note on MARCH 5 we will be doing a SURPRISE lunch. This is a date where a special friend will come and eat lunch! Please do not tell your child about this. Once one kid knows, it ruins the surprise for the whole class! We have spring program practice at 12:30 so this lunch will take place from 11:15-12:15! You may either take your child a special lunch or just come and eat their home lunch with them! You can pack an empty lunch box for the morning or tell your child they are getting hot lunch to trick them :)

Homework: 

Please let me know if your child is struggling with math! They are doing great in class with this! We are also reading phonic books in class and really working on sounding out/ looking for word patterns in books! This is a great thing to do with your child at night! 

- We did not test writing our red words today due to the wet weather, I updated the rest of the letter report! Keep working on reading and writing red words! We will be sure to test writing them next week! 

Tree Tapping: 

With this amazing weather we have been having we started our tree tapping unit! We will be collecting sap over the next month or so and going through the process of making syrup. We will celebrate with a pancake party at the end! We are working on our first batch now! Feel free to ask your child questions about this process!

Another fun unit we do in Kindergarten is hatching chicks! We will start this the week after spring break. The process takes 21 days and then we like to keep the babies in our room for a few weeks! Wacky Week: 

Forest Kids, get ready for some wackiness coming after Christmas Break! Wacky Wednesdays are back, starting January 17! The class with the highest percentage of participation each week will earn a class party.

Spring Program: 

Please mark your calendar! Our spring program will be held at Christ Memorial the evening of March 14! Students from South Side, Pine Ridge, and Forest School will be leading a special evening of worship. Parents/Grandparents/Friends are invited to join!

Night Hike!

Forest School families, we will be having another community gathering in the form of a night hike at the ODC!! Thursday, February 8 at 6 pm. We will meet at the ODC pavilion between 6:15 and 6:20. We will begin a guided hike along the lantern lit trail that will end at the large playscape.  It will be a fun night of hiking and being with friends.

The hike is lit by lanterns, but we encourage you to bring flashlights and headlights as it will still be dark.  The hike should take 15-20 minutes. The playscape has some lighting and kids are welcome to play and join the glow party after the hike. Share the Love

The Maroon and White Shop will be hosting the first annual "Share The Love" Shopping Event on Wednesday, February 7 from 8am - 5pm.  Come shop for the latest HC gear at the High School and 10% of all sales will go to Compassionate Heart in Zeeland.  The first 25 customers to make a purchase will receive a complimentary gift and our "Cool Beans" Coffee Cart will be serving complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate and refreshments!  It's an event you won't want to miss!
